Man sentenced for 2008 Ports. murder

60 years with 15 suspended

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - A man convicted of first degree murder in July was sentenced Thursday in the Portsmouth Circuit Court to 45 years in prison, according to the court clerk.

Jerry Chisholm, 55, was convicted in the murder of Edward W. Bell in August 2008 on Green Street in Portsmouth. Police said Bell was shot to death, and Chisholm was one of three arrested.

Chisholm was sentenced to 60 years with 15 suspended and 15 years of supervised probation.
