VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Virginia Beach Police have a arrested a man they say hit another man in the head with a bottle at a nightclub, subsequently killing him early Saturday morning.

Virginia Beach Police spokesman Jimmy Barnes told WAVY.com Saturday the assault happened at 12:49 a.m. at the Royale Blue Nightclub in the 800 block of Baker Road.

Grazia Moyers with VBPD said Monday police found an unresponsive male victim inside the club upon arrival. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Saturday, police identified the victim as Samuel Dawkins, 30, of the 1200 block of Glyndon Drive. According to Moyers, Dawkins was with several friends on the dance floor when a suspect, identified as Lennell Darrell Skeeter, 23, of Suffolk approached the victim and struck him in the head with an object.

Barnes said the object was a beverage bottle.

Police arrested Skeeter and charged him with voluntary manslaughter. He remains incarcerated at the Virginia Beach Correctional Center with no bond at this time.
