VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A Norfolk man was sentenced on Wednesday for robbing a Walgreens store of $1800 worth of drugs in 2009.
Michael Ryan King, 30, of East Bayview Boulevard, was sentenced to 12 years on the charge Robbery with Use of a Simulated Gun.
According to the Commonwealth's evidence, King went into the Walgreens located at South Military Highway in Virginia Beach on October 4, 2009 with a note demanding Oxycontin, Methadone, and Oxycodone to be provided in a bag within thirty seconds or he would blow a woman's chest apart. King exited the store with $1800 worth of drugs.
He was later arrested on October 7, 2009 after robbing a second Walgreen's in Norfolk, and confessed to the robbery.
In June 2010, King pled guilty and was sentenced in Norfolk Circuit Court for robbery, possession with the intent to distribute, and possesion of a firearm with drugs.
