ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (WAVY) - A three month investigation into drug-related gang activity in Elizabeth City, N.C. resulted in 72 felony charges and solved several recent shooting cases, police told WAVY.com.
The investigation dubbed "Operation Crack Down" ended on Friday, March 12. It was launched in an effort to decrease crime and the fear of crime.
Over the past two weeks, there have been reports of seven shootings. Police say in conjunction with "Operation Crack Down" five of those shootings have been solved. Some of the same suspects are charged in more than one case.
Dominique Chamblee, Joey Lamar White, Rodney Brooks and Deonte Stokley all face Attempted Murder and other charges for a March 4 shooting on Perry Street., during which shots were fired into a home.
The following day, there was a shooting on Bank Street. Police have charged Daniel Williams and Dominique Chamblee with Attempted Murder and Injury to Personal Property.
Perrier Jones is charged with two counts of Attempted Murder, Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling and Possession of a Firearm by Felon for a Pearl Street shooting caught on surveillance camera on March 8.
Police arrested Deonte Stokley and Rondell Childress for the March 9 Wood Street shooting. They are both charged with Attempted Murder and Armed Robbery. Stokley is also charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
Deonte Stokley and Perrier Jones both also face charges in connection with a shooting on Hughes Boulevard on March 11. Daniel Williams was charged with Resist, Obstruct and Delay.
