Wachovia Bank robbed in Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Virginia Beach police were called to a robbery at the Wachovia Bank on Independence Blvd. and Pembroke Blvd. in Virginia Beach on Monday.

At around 9:30 a.m., police tell WAVY.com,  a man walked into the bank, jumped over the counter and told the tellers to hand over money.

The tellers put the money in the suspect's backpack then he left without hurting anyone.

Police say the suspect was last seen wearing a multi-colored hooded sweatshirt, black puffy jacket with an orange lining, black jeans, black gloves and black military-style boots. He wore a black knit cap, black plastic-framed sunglasses with rainbow-colored lenses and carried a black backpack.

Police have not released any surveillance photos.
