Man tries to rob 7-11 at knifepoint

Virginia Beach police say a man tried to rob a 7-11 at knifepoint early Tuesday morning.

It happened at the store on Virginia Beach Boulevard near the Oceanfront. Police say the suspect told the clerk to open the cash register. Instead, the clerk ran and locked herself in the back of the store.

The suspect tried to get into the cash register but only got away with a pack of cigarettes.
