Beach police tell WAVY.com a man who was struck by a vehicle in the 2900 blk. of Shore Drive Wednesday has died.

The victim, identified as 21-year-old Arnold Lee Jones was attempting to cross Shore Drive when he was struck by a 2001 Toyota Spider traveling eastbound. Police say Jones was leaving a local bar when he was struck.

Jones suffered severe head injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment where he died two days later.

Virginia Beach Police Spokesperson Margie Hobbs says alcohol use by Mr. Jones was a factor in the crash.

No charges are pending against the driver of the spider.
