NORFOLK, Va. - Norfolk largest dock party is only days away, but the stage is just about set for 3 days of food, fun and fireworks.

There's a flurry of activity in the newly refurbished Town Point Park for the 33rd annual Harborfest.

Festevents Director Karen Scherberger says she expects 200 to 250-thousand people to attend this year's event.  Scherberger tells WAVY.com a security plan is in place for the huge crowds expected.

"We probably have about 200 personnel. Seccurity personnel on site as well as in the downtown community. We're very well covered," Scherberger says.

She says the Coast Guard, its auxiliary, and other well trained volunteers will patrol the Elizabeth River to make sure everything is safe and orderly.

Festival goers say they're excited to attend. Jennifer Brown says, "I know they're ready for a big amount of people so I think it's pretty great."

Another downtown worker is Lee Williams and his concern is finding a place to park. "I think parking is going to be a problem more than anything else. You start looking around here and we just got rid of a lot of the off-street parking," Williams told WAVY.com.

Scherberger says don't worry. "Friday is a holiday for most businesses so space that might have been taken on Friday will be open."
