SUFFOLK, Va. - Three Suffolk children are without their parents after police say their father stabbed their mother to death. Darren Moseley is charged with first degree murder.
Detectives say the 32-year-old reported his wife Cathy missing on Monday. Tuesday, her body was found.
Cathy Moseley's family is very upset at the news of her death, but they tell WAVY.com they're disgusted because Darren actually stayed with his mother-in-law for the past couple of nights before he was arrested.
Follow Harvest Drive from Suffolk into Isle of Wight and you'll find a beautiful, small town. It's there, just across city lines, investigators say 27-year-old Cathy Moseley was found in a rental car, stabbed to death.
"I could have died. That's my heart. That's my sister," said Pamela Charles.
Charles told WAVY.com she and her mother went to the Suffolk Police Monday. They were concerned after not hearing from Cathy since Friday.
"It's always everyday we talked, but for her to go all of them days and not call me I knew something wasn't right," Charles said.
With them at the police department was Darren Moseley, Cathy's husband of six years. Moseley told detectives he last saw his wife Friday after discussing fixing their marital problems. He says she left their Causey Avenue apartment when he was out buying cigarettes.
"I'm going to be honest with you, I wanted to take his head off, because I felt like in my stomach something had done happened," said Charles.
Roughly 24 hours after Cathy's family filed the missing person's report, her body was found and Darren Moseley was arrested and charged with murder.
"Why take her away from her kids? Why put her kids in this predicament that they don't have a mom now?" asked Cathy's Aunt, Betty Williams. Williams is not sure what she'll do without her niece. "She meant everything to me. She meant everything," she said.
Loved ones are now leaning on each other to pull through this
tragedy and with Darren Moseley charged, not convicted, of a
young woman's murder, her family says for whoever did this,
true judgment will come in the end.
"They're cruel and God is going to deal with him," said Charles.
Moseley is in the Western Tidewater Regional Jail. He declined WAVY.com's request for an interview.
Cathy's family plans to hold a walk at some point this Friday in her honor.
