Storm Information: City of Suffolk

The City of Suffolk continues to experience flooding in low lying areas which has caused roadway flooding across the City. Residents are encouraged not to be on the roadways unless absolutely necessary.

The following locations are currently closed to traffic:

  • Wilroy Road from Progress Rd. to Nansemond Pkwy.
  • Rt. 460 at Meade Pkwy.
  • 700-900 blk. of N. Main St. at the Kimberly Bridge
  • E. Constance at Point St.
  • 2200 blk. of Wilroy Rd. near Ciba
  • 1100 blk. of Wilroy Rd.
  • Wilroy Rd. at Williams Road
  • Wilroy at Saunders Road
  • Wilroy at Proctor Street
  • 1400 blk. of Wilroy – Lake levels in front of Lakeland trailer park are level with the roadway
  • Nansemond Pkwy. at Wilroy Rd. Northgate Commerce Pkwy entrance
  • 5100 blk. Townpoint Rd. to Cole Ave.
  • Sleepyhole Rd. to Pelican/Riverbreeze/Kings Hwy.

The following City closures/cancellations/delays have been reported:

Trash pick ups will begin at 7 a.m. Friday. Due to the holiday, they will be on the Thursday schedule.

City of Suffolk Offices are opening two hours late Friday.

The Suffolk Economic Authority meeting scheduled for this afternoon has been canceled. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, December 9 at 4 p.m.

All athletic meetings and after school activities hosted by the Department of Parks and Recreation have been canceled for today.

The City’s Emergency Operations Center continues to operate at monitor status.

No shelters have been opened at this time.
