NORFOLK, Va. - FBI agents in Norfolk will be meeting with State Police investigators this week to put their heads together and take a fresh look at the decades-old "Colonial Parkway Murders." An FBI spokesperson told WAVY.com on Tuesday that state and federal agents have never closed the case, but are now submitting old evidence for new advanced forensic testing.
Police believe the serial killer, or killers, began murdering young couples in the Williamsburg area in 1986.
Doug Call, the younger brother of one of the eight victims, felt very hopefull after hearing about this week's planned meeting of investigators.
"It's great. We just want to get this closed up. This has been an open wound for our family for a long time," said Call.
Keith Call, 20, was on a date with his CNU classmate, Cassandra Hailey, 18, in 1988. Keith's car was found the next day on the parkway, with their clothes still in it. Keith and Cassandra's bodies were never found.
"We have to do right by my brother," said Call. "To leave him behind wouldn't be fair to him, it wouldn't be fair to our family."
While investigators look to new forensic technology, the Call family is now using new internet technology to work the case as well. They have created a Facebook page on the murders and it's already been visited by hundreds of people.
"Anything we can do to find that one little piece of information that will break the case, we're going to do it," said Call. "My parents have already passed away and they wanted nothing more in this world to find out what happened to their son. "
With the Facebook page and the refocused attention of
investigators, maybe now, maybe soon, the mystery of the Colonial
Parkway Murders will be solved.
Anyone with information on the "Colonial Parkway Murders" is asked to call the FBI.
