U.S Secretary of Energy Steven Chu visited the Jefferson Laboratory in Hampton Roads on Tuesday as it celebrates its 25th anniversary.
Secretary of Energy Steven Chu, who won a Nobel Prize in Physics, took a tour of the facility.
Secretary Chu said that the tax dollars spent at the Lab are important to the nation. "Science invariably, whether its 10 years from today or 50 years from today, does contribute in vital ways we would not have imagined," he said.
The center in Newport News serves as a primary facility for nuclear physics for the Energy Department.
