3 arrested for desecrating grave

FRANKLIN, Va. - Vandals desecrated the grave of a Civil War commander back in June. Major Joseph Gillette died fighting for the confederacy.

For nearly 150 years, he rested undisturbed, just west of Franklin, but in June that changed when Gilette's grave was torn up.

Monday, December 2, three arrests were made in the case.

Detective Morris, with the Southampton County Sheriff's Office says Kyle Sinclair Burks, 21; Aaron Richard Howard, 20; and Justin Thomas Rainey, 23 have all been charged with Violation of Sepulcher and Attempted Grand Larceny.

All have been released on bond.
