CHESAPEAKE, Va. - A group of local cyclists rode all the way to Columbia, North Carolina to give hope to children dealing with adversity.
16-year-old Ryan Poteet did the honors and kicked off the bike
ride from Northwest River Park in Chesapeake.
The fundraiser was organized by the We Promise Foundation,
the charitable arm of Chartway Credit Union.
"Most of the money raised stays in the region," says We
Promise Chairman Phil Richards. "Its not a personal challenge its
for the kids. When it's all said and done we hope to reach our goal
of $500,000 which we give to a number of children's charities in
Hampton Roads."
The ride is one of several Chartway fundraisers. 10 On Your
Side's Lori Crouch was proud to ride a portion of the trip.
