Juvenile pinned by trailer in NN

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Newport News firefighters were dispatched to Donna Lane at around 6 a.m. Thursday morning on reports of a fallen tree. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a tree had fallen on a trailer and pinned a juvenile resident to the floor.

Members of the NNFD Technical Rescue Team as well as other NNFD employees began efforts to extricated the juvenile. Fire officials requested and received a 60-ton crane from Hampton Roads Crane and Rigging in order to lift the tree and facilitate the extrication.

It took about two hours before the juvenile was extricated and transported to Riverside Regional Medical Center.

No word on the victim's condition at this time. We'll be sure to pass on any additional information once it becomes available.
