NORFOLK, Va. - A Norfolk father convicted of killing his infant daughter will spend the next 15 years of his life behind bars, according to a spokesperson with the Norfolk Commonwealth's Attorney's Office.
Bryant was sentenced to 35 years in prison with 20 year suspended, for the convictions of Second Degree Murder and two counts of Child Neglect. Upon release, Bryant will be placed on probation.
Bryant was charged with Second Degree Murder and Child Neglect following the April, 2008 death of his daughter, Miracle Bryant, and the neglect of his other daughter, Miracle's twin sister, Heaven.
Medical experts testified the girls were starved
The childrens' mother, Heaven Krisitine Smith, was also charged in connection with Miracle's death. She pleaded guilty in March, 2009 to the following felony charges: one count of Second Degree Murder and one count of Child Neglect.
Smith is in custody and is pending sentencing.
