NORFOLK, Va. (AP) -
The Virginian-Pilot is off the market.
Landmark Media Enterprises said Tuesday it was suspending efforts to sell the newspaper and affiliated publications due to tight credit conditions.
Vice Chairman Richard Barry III says Landmark will try again when the economy gets better.
Landmark announced efforts to sell all its properties in January. It completed the sale of The Weather Channel Cos., to NBC Universal and two private-equity firms in September, but suspended efforts to sell several other properties because potential buyers couldn't borrow.
The Virginian-Pilot Media Cos. includes several publications, a direct mail company and Web sites.
