Newport News PD investigating shooting

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Newport News Police received several calls around 3:30 Thursday afternoon for the report of a shooting.
They responded to the 2200 block of Chestnut Avenue. When officers got there, they found a 20-year-old man in front of Newport News Market.
The victim had been shot in the chest. He was taken to an area hospital. The victim's condition is not known at this time.
Investigators say he is cooperating with them.
