PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - A local grassroots effort to get Dame Judi Dench to guest star on the PBS show "Downton Abbey" is heating up.

The campaign's Facebook page has nearly 1,000 "likes." Some fans think Dench would be a perfect fit for "Downton" and could take on Dame Maggie Smith's character, the Dowager Countess.

A similar campaign got Betty White to host Saturday Night Live.
