FRANKLIN, Va. (AP) - International Paper is seeking more than 200 workers for its fluff pulp plant in Franklin.

Job applications will be accepted through Aug. 15.

Company spokeswoman Donna Wadsworth tells WVEC-TV that the 212 positions will be filled gradually. The hirings will be completed by mid-2012 when new product line is operational.

Memphis, Tenn.-based International Paper closed its paper mill in Franklin last year. The company announced in May that it planned to spend $83 million to convert part of the mill to produce fluff pulp.

Fluff pulp is used in diapers and other absorbent materials.

Former paper mill workers are being encouraged to apply for the new jobs.
