JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) - A Williamsburg teenager was killed early Saturday morning when she lost control of her car on I-64 and struck a tree.
At 6:08 a.m., the Virginia State Police were called to a single vehicle car accident on I-64 at mile marker 233 in James City County.
Investigators determined Santell Deneen Dobson, 17, of Williamsburg, was traveling east on I-64 with a passenger when she lost control of the car, overcorrected and ran off the road striking a tree on the driver's side door.
Dobson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her passenger was transported to a local hospital with injuries. The condition of the passenger is not known at this time.
Police say they do not know if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
Dobson was wearing her seat belt at the time of the accident.
