HAMPTON ROADS, Va. (WAVY) - Major retailer of consumer electronics, home appliances and mattresses, hhgregg , opened its first stores in the Hampton Roads area on March 11, providing job opportunities for local residents.
The two new locations are in Virginia Beach and Newport News.
The company opened in Indianapolis in 1955. Since then, it has expanded to several states. The Hampton Roads stores are numbers 128 and 129.
"We are very excited about expanding our operations in the state of Virginia," said Jeff Pearson, vice president of marketing, hhgregg. "We think residents in both areas will be pleased with the wide selection of appliances and electronics on display at our stores, and hope that they will enjoy our friendly and professional customer service, which are the hallmarks of our company."
According to a news release, approximately 100 residents have been hired to staff the two stores.
