PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - A dog providing assistance to a Portsmouth woman suffering from health problems has been reported missing.
Paula Ramsey is asking for the public's help in finding her dog, a Shih Tzu/Pekingese mix named Mogwai, who disappeared from her front yard off Porter Road last Friday afternoon.
"My disability is multiple sclerosis and I have severe fibromyalgia," Ramsey said. "My joints will lock up and twist up to where I can't walk and she lets me know. At that point, I have to give myself shots. So she can feel it before I can feel it coming on to save me from going through that agony and everything."
Paired with physical pain due to her impairments, Ramsey is now suffering from emotional pain as well.
"I've had a really hard time," Ramsey said. "I've had a really hard time. I'm very depressed. I said if I never got anything back in life, if it would get Mogwai back to help me, that would be the best present anybody could give me."
Posters have been posted around her Chesapeake neighborhood in hopes of finding Mogawi.
