HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - Monday night, Kameka Holliday's friends and family gathered to remember a young life cut short.

The 24-year-old woman was killed when she fell onto the road she was walking along. Police said the driver of the 2008 Chevy Cobalt that struck her did not flee.

Holliday died at the scene.

"She had a heart of gold. She would give if anyone was ever in need," Holliday's mother, Lavette McQueen, said. "We're all going to miss her. We're going to miss her dearly."

The driver will not be charged.
