HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - Thursday, Hampton Roads high school students got a taste of what it's like to work for NASA.

More than 200 juniors and seniors went to NASA Langley's Research Center for career day. The event is designed to broaden their interests in science, math and engineering. Students met with scientists, engineers and researchers to work on design challenges.

"We wanted a new approach. We wanted something fresh, because we have a new generation. They have so much media. We wanted to get them engaged. It's like a speed dating process. It's like okay, you have fifteen minutes. Ask all of your questions and then go to your next."Kimberly Graupner, with the NASA Langley Research Center, said.

The event is part of National Engineers Week and is sponsored by NASA Langley, Newport News Shipbuilding and the Peninsula Engineering Council.
