LAFB security incident has ended

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - A security incident at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton has been cleared.
The situation began around noon Tuesday, when an explosive detection dog alerted officials to a vehicle at the Langley Air Force Base vehicle search area.
According to Airman Jarad A. Denton, SrA, USAF, security forces at the base, along with Hampton police and fire crews, closed the intersection of Sweeney Boulevard and Armistead Avenue while they investigated. That intersection was reopened to traffic shortly after 3 p.m., after emergency responders searched and cleared the suspicious vehicle.
Denton said the driver of the vehicle was detained for questioning but was later released.
The incident remains under investigation.
