HAMPTON , Va. (WAVY) - The Hampton Health Departmen t is warning residents of a confirmed case of rabies.
A raccoon attacked a family dog in the Wythe area and later tested positive for rabies.
This is the 43rd confirmed case within the city and the first for this year.
The department wants to remind everyone to keep their pets' rabies shots up -to-date. You are also advised to avoid contact with wild animals and to not feed them.
Hampton residents are asked to call Animal Control at 727-8311 if you see a sickly animal.
