HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - Hampton police are searching for a suspect wanted in connection with a fatal shooting that happened just after 11 a.m. Sunday on St. George Way off North King Street.
Investigators say 23-year-old Jerrell Marquise Speller shot and killed 22-year-old Christopher Moses. Officers says Moses was shot in the upper body and died at the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed Moses was shot inside his home. Investigators say the motive in this case is still under investigation. Neighbors say young kids were nearby when the shooting happened.
"From the little information I have there were kids in that home," neighbor Leon Wright said. "For that to happen right there were kids actually live is very disturbing."
Police are searching for Speller in connection with Moses' death. Investigators tell WAVY.com Speller has warrants for one count of murder, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, three counts of discharging a firearm inside a residence, and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Anyone with information on this crime is asked to called the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
