The victim of a fatal motorcycle crash has been identified as 29-year-old Jason W. Archer of Newport News. The crash happened on Sept. 18 in the 1st blk. of Angelina Way in Hampton.
A violent crash on Angelia Way in Hampton Friday night at 10:30 PM, followed by a sudden shake, convinced Ertekin to run out the door. The rumble could have been an earthquake, if not for the sound.
"I'm still trying to figure it out," said Ertekin, "I don't know what happened."
The motorcycle missed Ertekin's house, but slammed into the one across the street. Ertekin's wife was one of the first to help. But ten years as a lifeguard couldn't prepare her for this.
"The guy was saying nothing. All you could hear was him gargling, trying to get his breath."
Police say a motorcyclist lost control of the bike and slammed into the front of a home at the intersection of Angelia Way and Aster Way. The rider, twenty-nine years old, wasn't wearing a helmet according to police. Emergency crews raced the man to the hospital, but the injuries were too much.
The motorcyclist hit with enough force to crack a brick wall. The bike shattered from the impact, scattering pieces of plastic and parts of the frame all over the sidewalk and yard. Nothing could be done to save the motorcyclist's life, leaving a neighborhood to pick up the pieces of this fatal crash.
Police have not released the identity of the victim, pending notification of family.
