Fort Monroe picked for travel mag cover

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - Fort Monroe is on one of four covers of the Virginia Tourism Corporation 's 2012 Virginia Travel Guide.

The three other attractions chosen for the travel guide's covers are the Bluemont General Store in Loudoun County, Sandbridge in Virginia Beach and the Heartwood artisan center in Abingdon.

The guide is available online and in print.

More than 600,000 travel guides are distributed each year.

Fort Monroe became a National Monument on Nov. 1, 2011.
