HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - As Hampton police continue to search for suspects, two Hampton families spent the past two days grieving the deaths of their loved ones.

Police say Joseph Lee McQueen, 30, and Clifton Kareem Christian, 24, were shot during an argument in the parking lot of the White Oak Lodge club on Kecoughtan Road early Saturday morning.

"I don't now how we're going to get through this," Clifton Christian's mother Barbara Christian said. "I've become a part of the statistics. All these shootings... I don't understand it."

Family members told WAVY.com it was Clifton Christian's first time at the bar, and his friend got involved in an argument outside the club. Barbara Christian said her son was trying to break up the fight when he was shot.

"My baby boy is gone," Barbara Christian said. "This whole thing has been a nightmare."

Both Clifton Christian and his friend, McQueen, were shot and killed in the club's parking lot.

"[The shooter] could have easily walked away," Barbara Christian said. "Why didn't he walk away? What did he have to prove by killing them? What? He could have walked away."

The family will be holding a candlelight vigil 5 p.m. Tuesday in the 2900 block of Hollister Avenue in Norfolk.
