HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - The Coast Guard is keeping a watchful eye on the oil spill cleanup in Hampton.

The spill happened last weekend when more than 3,000 gallons of used motor oil leaked from a storage tank into a drainage ditch in the Briarfield neighborhood.

Coast Guard got involved Tuesday by protecting the creek and local wildlife. Coast Guard personnel remained on scene Friday with City of Hampton, Virginia Department of Environmental Quality and the Virginia Department of Emergency Management with LCM Corporation.
