HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - One adult and three children are receiving assistance from the Red Cross after a fire tore through their Hampton home early Monday morning.
According to officials, the fire occurred at around 4 a.m. at 11 Huffman Drive.
Upon arrival, fire crews noticed light smoke coming from the front of the house. When firefighters made their way to the back of the home they discovered fire inside a new addition of the home.
Crews were able to quickly extinguish the blaze, according to Hampton Fire Chief Jeff Berry.
No one was hurt and a smoke detector was sounding when firefighters arrived at the home.
Berry said the fire appears accidental. However, an investigation is ongoing.
The Red Cross is assisting the family with food and lodging.
