Gloucester thieves work Christmas Eve

GLOUCESTER COUNTY, VA. - The Gloucester County Sheriff's Department says thieves used Christmas Eve to steal over $1000.00 worth of items from homes in the Hayes Road area of Gloucester.

On December 24, 2009, between midnight and 7:00 a.m., thieves robbed numerous residencies in the area of Hayes Road off of George Washington Memorial Highway in Gloucester, VA.. Guns, televisions, and jewelry were among the items stolen. The number of homes robbed has not been released.

One victim of the break-ins told WAVY.com "I was not here. My house was broken into. Glass was busted out of my door. They stole my TV."
She went on to say, "I thought this was a safe neighborhood, but I guess not."

Major D.W. Warren of the Gloucester County Sheriff's said of the suspects' actions, "When you see flat screen televisions, jewelry, and guns stolen, you know it's out of greed."

He added investigators are trying to find a stolen vehicle from the same area on December 27th. It's described as a 1997 Mazda 626, 4 door, faded gold with Virginia plates: BARITCH.

Anyone with information regarding this crime spree is asked to contact the Gloucester County Sheriff's Office at 804-693-3890 or callers can contact the Gloucester Crime Line at 804-693-COPS. All callers will remain anonymous and information leading to the arrest and conviction of suspects involved in this case could be eligible for a reward of up to $1000.00.
