Woman seriously injured in fire

GLOUCESTER, VA. - A 67-year-old Gloucester woman suffered second and third-degree burns in a fire Wednesday afternoon.

Gloucester fire crews responded to the scene of the fire at 1:38 p.m on East Founders Mill Way. Fire officials say upon arrival, the home was fully engulfed in flames.

The 67-year-old female resident had been carried out of the home by a neighbor and was flown via air ambulance to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with second and third-degree burns to her upper bod and lower body.

Officials tell WAVY.com the home was completely destroyed in the fire. Only one wall of the home and the garage remained standing.

The woman and her husband were both displaced.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
