YORK COUNTY, Va. - York County firefighters rushed to put out a house fire around 3:30 Wednesday afternoon.
Investigators say it happened in the 400 block of Hounds Chase, just off Route 17 in the Tabb section of the county.
We're told the family had a working smoke detector that alerted the family inside. There were two adults and two children living at the home.
About 80 percent of the home was damaged from heat, fire and smoke. The fire was so intense it melted the siding off the house next door. Despite the damage, no one was hurt.
The Red Cross is helping the family with temporary lodging, food and clothes.
Investigators are looking into a cause.
