ACCOMACK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) - A fire in Accomack County Monday night appears to be arson, according to troopers.
Crews from multiple companies and area towns were on scene in the 30200 block of Nocks Landing Road. Sgt. Michelle Anaya with the Virginia State Police said preliminary reports indicate the cause of the fire in the single structure is arson.
More than 60 arson cases have been reported in Accomack County since mid-November. This fire comes during several nights of checkpoints on the Eastern Shore hoping to gather information on the arsonist.
Corinne Geller with the Virginia State Police told WAVY.com 6,000 fliers were distributed in three nights and 75 new tips were gathered.
