NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Police found the body of a 19-year-old competitive swimmer early Saturday morning and have no suspects or motive in the death of the recent high school graduate.

His father spoke with WAVY.com, and said he had a bad feeling the moment Carlton Dean, Jr. decided to go out late Friday evening.

Carlton Dean, Sr. says his son went out with a new friend from Tidewater Community College, a girl his parents did not know.

"My last words, I told him, 'If you leave, ain't nothin' good gonna happen tonight,'" Carlton Dean, Sr. said.

His son graduated from Maury High School last spring.

Police responded at 5:45 a.m. to the 2700 block of Vincent Avenue Sept. 22 where they found Carlton Dean, Jr. shot and killed.

"All I could think about, I know he was lying on that ground thinking, 'Daddy said ain't nothing good come if you leave this house,'" Carlton Dean, Sr. said.

The Dean family says they are gathering a reward for information regarding Carlton Dean, Jr.'s death. His father says he has no regrets.

"Plan for tomorrow," Carlton Dean, Sr. said. "Live for today, be happy today and I think we did that."
