ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WAVY) - The man wanted by Chesapeake police for the death of his 16-month-old daughter was caught in Asheville, N.C., Friday.

According to a news release from the Asheville Police Department, officers and U.S. Marshals from the Western District of North Carolina learned Floyd Logan IV was in the Asheville area. On Thursday, they found him at his girlfriend's house on Jeffress Avenue and placed him into custody.

Police have Logan in the Buncombe County Detention Facility on a fugitive warrant without bond.

On Aug. 15, officers from the Chesapeake Police Department responded to the 800 block of Park Row in reference to an unresponsive toddler. Medics took the child, Waaliyah Brown, to a hospital where doctors later pronounced her dead.

After the return of the autopsy results, a Chesapeake grand jury indicted Logan on charges for first-degree murder and child abuse on Dec. 4.

WAVY.com uncovered Logan's criminal history, which included a domestic aggravated battery charge in 2001 and a domestic battery charge in 2002 in Florida.
