NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - A man was killed when his truck rear-ended an SUV at a stoplight Friday evening, according to Newport News police.

Police say a silver Infinity SUV was stopped at a red light on Warwick Boulevard at Sweetbriar Drive, when a Silverado truck, driven by Mark A. Burkas, 48, rear-ended the Infinity.

Burkas was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead at 7:37 p.m., police said. The driver of the Infinity, a resident of Newport News, said he had neck pain, but did not go to the hospital.

Police say the cause of the accident was medical related, but no further details were provided.
