VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - 10 On Your Side is working to stop Hampton Roads from texting and driving.

At the Hall Nissan on Bonney Road in Virginia Beach, drivers took the W82TXT pledge on Tuesday.

"I want to be here for my children, just not worth driving and texting to lose my life," a mother told WAVY.com.

W82TXT is a community awareness campaign to encourage drivers not to text while driving.

You can pick up a blue thumb band at a number of locations throughout the area with the W82TXT message and pledge to not text while driving. The thumb bands are designed to remind people of their pledge.

The goal of our campaign is to get more than 150,000 drivers to take the pledge.
