DARE COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) - The man accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend in the Outer Banks will have his first court appearance Tuesday, according to the Dare County Sheriff's Office.
Nate Summerfield will appear before Judge Edgar Barnes at 9:30 a.m. in Manteo, Chief Deputy Steve Hoggard said. No cameras or cell phones will be allowed inside the courtroom.
Sunday, deputies said Summerfield was quietly booked into the Dare County Detention Center around 2:30 a.m. Saturday. He went before a magistrate and was promptly denied bond.
Summerfield is accused of murdering ex-girlfriend Lynn Jackenheimer by strangling and stabbing her while on a family vacation in the Outer Banks in July. He was apprehended Wednesday at a motel in Medina, Ohio, after more than a month on the run.
Jackenheimer's body was found in Frisco, N.C. 10 days after she was reportedly last seen.
