HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - A vehicle caught fire inside a building in Hampton's city garage area Sunday evening.
Fire Department spokesman Capt. Jeff Pereria said crews arrived at the garage area in the 400 block of N. Armistead Avenue around 6 p.m. to find heavy smoke coming from a building. Firefighters initially had to fight the fire in a defensive mode until they gained an upper hand, he said. They did call for second alarm in case they needed extra help.
The building sustained little damage, which allowed crews to have the fire out in less than 30 minutes.
