CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - Chesapeake and Portsmouth fire fighters battled a commercial Saturday afternoon near the Chesapeake-Portsmouth city line.

Crews were called to the MCC Label Corporation in the 1300 block of Cavalier Blvd. around 12:18 Saturday afternoon for a commercial fire alarm. When they arrived on the scene they found heavy smoke coming from a single-story manufacturing warehouse.

Firefighters were able to determine quickly that a printing press inside the building had caught fire.

A Fire official told WAVY.com that the building had a functional sprinkler system that was able to extinguish much of the fire.

All the employees of the business were able to get out of the warehouse without injury. No firefighters were injured.

Capt. Mike Thibeault with the Chesapeake fire department said the structure suffered heavy smoke and water damage.

Thibeault said that crews from Chesapeake both responded because Portsmouth received 911 calls on the fire and Chesapeake received an alert for a commercial fire alarm.
