Facebook page set up to gather support

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - A community in Chesapeake is coming together to undo the work of an arsonist.

Police say someone torched theĀ  Fun Forest at Chesapeake's City Park sometime early Thursday morning.

Until the damage is repaired or isolated, the entire playground remains off-limits. More than 1,800 volunteers built Fun Forest in 1995. Since then, the park has won awards for its design. It will take that same kind of effort to rebuild it.

Volunteers have launched a Facebook page in an effort to gather support. If you want to help CLICK HERE .

The city is already working on designs and expects Fun Forest to open again later this year.

The police department still doesn't have any suspects in this case. A reward of up to $6,000 is being offered for any information leading to an arrest. If you know anything that could help in this case, call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
