HATTERAS, N.C. (WAVY) - The Coast Guard rescued a 39-year-old crew member from a cruise off the coast of Hatteras, N.C. Thursday evening.
The cruise ship Carnival Miracle was about 290 miles offshore when the Coast Guard says it received a call from the crew saying one of its crew members was suffering from abdominal pains.
Air crews from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C set off the help, aboard an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter and a HC-130 Hercules aircraft to go and help.
The Jayhawk crew hoisted the crew member and took him to Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, N.C.
There is no update on the patient's condition.
The same Coast Guard unit was called to pull an ill 72-year-old woman from the same cruise ship less than a month earlier.
