PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - There is a citizen effort to stop the tolls on the Downtown and Midtown Tunnels.

An online petition is making its way around Hampton Roads.

The tolls are coming to both tunnels to help fund a new Midtown Tunnel tube.

Many drivers are upset and say the tolls, with a proposed amount of almost $2 each way, will cripple the economy.

Petition organizers plan to take the signatures to Virginia and local politicians.
