CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - Police say an 18-month-old child who was pulled from a swimming pool Thursday has passed away.

According to Kelly O'Sullivan with the Chesapeake Police Department, police responded to the 3300 block of Indigo Road shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday and transported to the Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters in Norfolk.

Leo Kosinski, also with Chesapeake police, told WAVY.com Friday evening the young girl had passed away.

"It's a terrible thing," neighbor Dolores Holmes said. "It happens all the time and it's just very sad. My heart just pours out for this family."
