CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - A 16-year-old Chesapeake boy has been sentenced to two years of supervised probation for his role in the sexual assault of a 21-year-old special needs student aboard a Chesapeake school bus in May.
According to David Whitted with the Chesapeake Commonwealth's Attorney's Office, the teen was originally charged with grand larceny, sexual battery and assault and battery.
WAVY.com first reported the story in June, uncovering that two 15-year-olds and one 16-year-old were involved in the attack. All three teens and the victim were Southeastern Cooperative Educational Program students with learning and emotional disabilities.
According to an affidavit obtained by 10 On Your Side, police seized surveillance video recorded on a Chesapeake school bus for the dates of May 23, 24 and 25. The document states the various sex offenses against the female student lasted 19 minutes and at one point, the students forcibly moved the victim to another seat on the bus to continue assaulting her.
The affidavit said the three teens touched the female student inappropriately and attempted to force her to perform sexual acts. The affidavit also says two of the teens' body parts were exposed.
The 16-year-old will remain under supervised probation until he turns 18.
