CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - Chesapeake police said two Food Lion employees were injured by an accused shoplifter Monday.
Police spokeswoman Kelly O'Sullivan said two suspects walked into the Food Lion in the 2800 block of Yadkin Road just before 11:30 a.m.
O'Sullivan said two employees tried to stop the men as they attempted to leave the store with meat and cheese. One of the suspects, identified by police as William Alston, kicked one employee in the groin and bit the other.
The employee who was kicked in the groin was taken to Norfolk General for treatment.
Alston is charged with two counts of malicious wounding and grand larceny, as it was his third shoplifting offense.
Police identified the second suspect as Gregory Nance. Nance is charged with shoplifting.
